Gibson Custom Murphy Lab 1961 ES-335 Reissue Ultra Light Aged
Gibson Custom Shop presents in 2021 one of the most ambitious and revolutionary projects since aged Gibson guitars have been produced: the Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab.
Tom Murphy, the aging guru, has created in collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop, an absolutely revolutionary new aging department. All aged guitars are now made with a nitrocellulose finish with a new formula, which allows for even more accurate and realistic aging. The result is truly astounding and far removed from anything ever achieved before, including guitars from the Collectors Choice collection.
Speaking of the instrument in question, the Semi-Hollow guitars produced by the Gibson Custom Shop are back in the catalog and this new Historic Collection is the best that has ever been produced in terms of historical accuracy: the goal was achieved by analyzing, testing and studying specimens originals.
The skilled hands of the Gibson Custom Shop luthiers have reproduced in every minimum detail, the colours, dimensions and curves of the original instruments which reach exorbitant figures on the vintage market.
The result is an instrument that is a real experience to hold and play.
Specifically, the replica of the Gibson Custom Murphy Lab 1961 ES-335 Reissue Ultra Light Aged is characterized by Indian rosewood fingerboard with "Pearloid Dot" inlays, neck with Authentic '61 Skinny "C" profile, "period-correct" capacitors and the Custom Bucker finally "unpotted".
Murphy Lab's Ultra Light Aged finish treatment, combined with lightly aged hardware simulate the unique character, vibe and feel of an original model from the Gibson Golden Era.
