Gibson Custombucker Underwound Zebra

The Custombucker: Gibson’s ultra-precise replica of the company’s first humbucking pickup. The Gibson Accessories Custombucker Underwound follows almost exactly in that pickup’s sacred sonic path — sporting Alnico III magnets, mismatched coil wiring, and non-wax-potted construction — with the lone exception being its lower-output wind.

This provides the Custombucker Underwound with enhanced overtone presence and a slightly more articulate sound overall. Still, the primary draw is that a Custombucker Underwound in the neck position perfectly balances with a standard Custombucker in the bridge — somewhat of an issue on old-school PAF-equipped Gibsons, as both the bridge and the neck PAF humbuckers were indistinguishable. All in all, this makes the Custombucker Underwound a perfect pick for the guitarist seeking authentic PAF tones with superior balance between pickup positions.
