The Fender Custom Shop present the '68 Jazz Bass Journeyman Relic: a unique Time Machine Collection model made for born bassists who've always dreamt of wrapping their hands around a vintage-style Fender bass one day.
With this specially built reissue of a rare bass, you'll get closer to an original solid-body J-bass than most other bassists ever will, gaining access to a vintage core fleshed out with various modern upgrades.
The Time Machine: Specially-Selected Woods and a Classic Journeyman Relic Finish
The heart of the build is formed by specially-selected yet familiar woods, where the two-piece alder body has been joined to a bolt-on, quarter-sawn maple that comes finished with a laminated maple fretboard and the same black block inlays that Fender used back in '68.
To give this Custom Shop '68 J Bass that old-school vibe and played-in Fender feel, the neck and body feature a Journeyman relic finish, and also, what would a period-accurate Time Machine Series USA Jazz Bass be without a 4-saddle vintage-style bridge?
That Famed Vintage Tonal Foundation Plus Ample Dynamics and Vigorous Sound
Equipped with two Hand-Wound Custom Shop Vintage-Style Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, this first-class Fender bass serves up a full range of famous vintage sounds, but it also sounds lively and dynamic when played unplugged.
The sound of both Custom Shop pickups can be isolated or blended as preferred using the volume pots and, lastly, there's a single tone pot at your disposal to lighten or darken the overall sound as needed.
