Al centro di questo cambiamento in ambito musicale c'era Jimi Hendrix, un chitarrista come il mondo non aveva mai visto prima. Il 31 luglio 1968 suonò nel Municipal Auditorium di Shreveport, in Lousiana. L'allestimento del palco era scarno. Non c'era bisogno di luci o attrezzature audio elaborate. C'era solo un uomo con la sua chitarra, gli amplificatori e la musica che ha definito una rivoluzione culturale.
