Description

TM-70C BK is a precision chromatic tuner suitable for wind and string instruments, combined with a metronome, with both functions available simultaneously. It has a wide frequency detection range (C1-C8) making it compatible with almost all instruments, including transposing instruments (F - B♭ - E♭). Its pitch standard is adjustable, and for greater tuning precision, it can be connected to the CM-400 contact microphone, which is included with this model. The metronome offers a tempo range of 30 to 252 BPM, with 3 tempo settings and 15 variations. All operations are monitored by a high-visibility display. TM-70C BK is designed with low power consumption circuitry for extended operating life.

TM-70C BK Key Features

Combo Unit: Precision chromatic tuner and metronome. This is displayed via the Virtual Needle LCD Meter over a wide response range from C1 to C8. This detection range (C1=32.70Hz - C8 = 4186.01Hz) allows the TM-70C BK to be used with instruments that produce low frequencies, or that have many harmonics often difficult to detect, and acoustic instruments such as guitars and ukuleles. The CM-400 contact microphone (sold separately) can be used to transmit instrument vibrations directly to the tuner, for even more reliable tuning, especially independently of ambient noise interference. The LCD Meter with virtual needle uses proprietary KORG technology to accurately and without delay detect every frequency, also allowing the performer to monitor frequency fluctuation, which tends to occur with long notes on wind instruments, thus helping to develop and improve sound production. The new transposition function facilitates the use of TM-70C BK with transposing instruments in a band or orchestra, where the actual note played differs from the written note on the score; now, in addition to the usual C transposition, it is possible to switch to F, B♭, and E♭.

The Markers

In an ensemble such as a band or an orchestra, harmonies of third intervals can be perceived as out of tune and can be corrected by the performer by adjusting the pitch to a pure major or minor third. The TM-70C has markers that indicate these pure major and minor thirds, simply by adjusting the needle to coincide with these indicators*. This function is ideal not only for orchestral instruments but also for a cappella vocal music. * When tuning a pure major or minor third, the specific note to adjust depends on the musical repertoire being performed.

Sound Out Mode

The Sound Out mode of TM-70C BK allows you to tune by ear by listening to a reference signal from the internal speaker or a connected pair of headphones. The reference tone can be selected within a three-octave range from C3 (130.81 Hz) to C6 (1046.50 Hz), thanks to this range it can be used with a wide variety of instruments.

Sound Back Mode

Sound Back mode generates the reference tone closest to the frequency being played, while simultaneously indicating the input pitch on the Meter. This mode allows both visual and auditory pitch control, enabling more precise tuning, and is also an ideal ear training exercise. * This function is available when a connection is made to the INPUT jack or the headphone jack (or both).

The Metronome

The tempo speed can be adjusted using three different methods: Pendulum Step allows you to increase or decrease the tempo speed like old pendulum metronomes. Full Step allows you to set the tempo in single-step increments within the 30-252 range, and Tap Tempo sets the speed by simply tapping in time on the dedicated TAP button. 15 different preset rhythms (*) are available, including meter indications from 0 to 9 beats, duplets, triplets, triplets without the central note, quadruplets, and quadruplets without central notes. The tempo speed can be freely adjusted in the range from 30-252 BPM. Sophisticated rhythms such as triplets or quadruplets without central notes are used in a wide range of styles, from classical to rock and jazz. * When using the tuner and metronome simultaneously, triplets, triplets without the central note, quadruplets, or quadruplets without central notes cannot be selected.

Made in Japan Quality

The TM-70C BK is manufactured in Japan to ensure the highest possible quality control. In 1975, KORG introduced the concept of the needle meter, which is still the basis of modern tuners, and was one of the first companies to produce compact tuners. The TM-70C includes all of KORG's tuning technology, expertise, and decades of experience, and is a good, reliable, and precise partner capable of supporting and improving your performance.

Technical Specifications of TM-70C BK

Tuner Section

Scale: 12-note equal temperament

Detection Range: C1 (32.70 Hz) – C8 (4186.01 Hz) with sine wave input

Reference Signal: 3-octave range C3 (130.81 Hz) – C6 (1046.50 Hz)

Tuning Modes: Meter Mode, Sound Out Mode, Sound Back Mode

Calibration Range (pitch standard adjustment): A4=410–480 Hz (1 Hz units)

Detection Accuracy: less than +/-1 cent

Sound Accuracy: less than +/-1 cent

Metronome Section

Tempo Speed Adjustment: Quarter note = 30 to 252 BPM

Tempo Setting Modes: pendulum step, full step, tap tempo

Time Signatures: 15 types (0–9 beats, duplets, triplets, triplets without central note, quadruplets, quadruplets without central notes)

Accuracy: +/-0.3%

General Specifications

Connectors: INPUT jack (3.5 mm monaural mini-jack), Headphone jack (3.5 mm stereo mini-phone jack)

Speaker: dynamic (φ23mm)

Power Supply: 2 AAA batteries (3V)

Battery Life

Tuner: approx. 250/150/85 hours (backlight: off/soft/auto, continuous A4 input, with zinc-carbon batteries)

Metronome: approx. 200/130/75 hours (backlight: off/soft/auto, tempo 120, 4 beats, maximum volume, with zinc-carbon batteries)

Dimensions (W × D × H): 107 mm x 72 mm x 18 mm

Weight: 79 g (including batteries)

Color : Black

Included Accessories: CM-400 contact microphone
