Description

11104-07-Gc Set of humbuckers voiced specifically by Slash to give all his Les Pauls that Appetite for Destruction tone. When Slash was honored with having a Gibson Les Paul Signature model built, we used the same Alnico 2 Pro humbuckers that he has used for decades. It turned out that the new guitars sounded noticeably different than the original. So, we accepted the challenge of making him a new pickup that would make all of his new signature guitars sound just like the original AFD Les Paul. The result is the Slash Signature humbucker model. We used a different magnet wire and winding specifications that, when combined with the alnico 2 bar magnet, provided exactly what was needed to push a standard Les Paul toward that familiar sustain, crunch, and midrange that was so characteristic of the tone of the original Derrig Les Paul, copied for Slash. The Slash humbuckers are hand-built in Santa Barbara in the same way we built his originals in the 80s, with a nickel silver bottom plate with long mounting legs, single-conductor braided hookup wire, maple spacer, paper tape, and wax potting. ´´Postscript´´, in case you were wondering, yes, the set you buy is exactly the same as the one Slash’s famous tech, Ace Bergman, installs in Slash’s guitars. When the boss needs some new APH-2s, we pull them right out of production stock.
