Introduced in 1981 to accompany the TB-303 Bass Line, the TR-606 was a programmable drum machine whose size, price, and ease of use made home music production more accessible for everyone. Thumping kicks, unmistakable toms, and sizzling hi-hats were a hit with DIY musicians, appearing in genres from 80s new wave and punk to various electronic music styles.

The 606's sound is unique in the TR family and forms the backbone of many classic and underground tracks. But while many love its characteristic timbre, it wasn't particularly versatile. The TR-06 reimagines the original with new sound creation potential, along with rich internal effects. Control the pitch, decay, and pan of each instrument, or crank up the internal gain, pushing the simulated circuit into warm overdrive or aggressive distortion. The internal compressor adds warmth and punch, while the tempo delay creates depth and spaciousness for subtle delays or controlled chaos.

Like the original, the step sequencer in the TR-06 is simple and straightforward, allowing you to compose any type of beat quickly and easily. And now it has been updated with advanced features like adjustable sub-steps for "ratcheted" parts, step-loop for instantly slicing the pattern, and probability for each step, to create rhythms that are never boring.

Many modular and tabletop devices lack a good, practical, and easy-to-use drum sequencer. The TR-06 has five trigger outputs and one trigger input, making it easy to interface with other devices, inspiring new ideas and creative possibilities. Sequencing is fast and fluid, and you can mix and layer external modules with the internal sounds of the TR-06, for impressive rhythmic sequences.
