Description

pulse revolving speaker emulator used

The Pulse™ is an open-back revolving speaker emulator, inspired by the legendary Pink Floyd Doppola revolving speaker and Gibson® Maestro Rover RO-1.

The revolving speaker is one of the most loved musical instruments, but recreating its sound in a pedal is a real challenge. We have dedicated countless hours to research and development, measuring every detail on a real physical model and using advanced mathematical calculations to emulate its complex soundscape, along with all the physics and mechanics that underpin it. And it's all there: a realistic 3D sound that expands with speaker acceleration, precise spatial modulation, and the sensation of air moving with every rotation.

The Pulse features a TRS stereo input, stereo outputs, an external input for an expression pedal or a remote speed switch, and seven onboard controls that cover every speaker function, all packed into a compact Hammond® 1590BB-sized enclosure.

It's inspired by the classics to become a classic.

Specifications

FEATURES:

Slow Speed
Controls the speaker's rotation speed when the unit is in SLOW mode. The minimum setting corresponds to the lowest speed of 0.4 revolutions per second, while the maximum setting corresponds to the highest speed of 4 revolutions per second.

Fast Speed
Controls the speaker's rotation speed when the unit is in FAST mode. The minimum setting corresponds to the lowest speed of 4 revolutions per second, while the maximum setting corresponds to the highest speed of 8 revolutions per second.

Distance
Distance allows for precise virtual microphone placement. It sets the distance between the virtual microphones and the rotating speaker cabinet. The minimum setting corresponds to the maximum distance, while the maximum setting corresponds to the minimum distance.

Inertia
Controls the time it takes for the speaker to accelerate from SLOW mode to FAST mode and to decelerate from FAST mode to SLOW mode.

Mix
Controls the amount of unprocessed input signal from the FET preamp into the output mixer. The minimum setting is 100% dry, the maximum setting is 100% wet. The 12 o'clock position results in a 50% wet - 50% dry mix.

True Bypass Switching System with Status LED
Toggles the effect on and off. When active, the status LED glows yellow.

Fast/Slow Switching System with Status LED
Switches between slow and fast speaker rotation. The yellow LED indicates slow mode, and the blue LED indicates fast mode.

TRS Stereo Input
Accepts mono or stereo TRS signals selectable via an internal jumper. However, only the TIP IN (right) input is used for the rotary effect. In bypass mode, both TIP (right) and RING (left) inputs are routed to their corresponding outputs in stereo. The pedal ships preset in mono mode.

R MONO Output / L Output
PULSE provides a stereo output through two virtual microphones positioned on each side of the speaker cabinet. Using only the OUT R - MONO output activates a single virtual microphone positioned in front of the speaker cabinet.

External Input
Accepts the connection of an expression pedal or a remote switch for external speed control. To use an expression pedal, connect it, set it to the minimum position (HEEL), and adjust the SLOW SPEED potentiometer to the desired value. Now set the pedal to the maximum position (TOE) and adjust the FAST SPEED potentiometer to the desired value. Finally, rock the pedal back and forth to hear the result. To use the remote switch, connect the SPDT (ON/ON) switch with the following wiring: TIP - middle terminal, RING - outer terminal, SLEEVE - second outer terminal. The onboard SLOW/FAST switch automatically deactivates when an expression pedal or remote switch is connected. For the expression pedal, we recommend using the Roland® EV-5, but it is compatible with almost all types of pedals available.

Volume R / Volume L
Controls the output signal levels on the OUT R and OUT L channels. Unity gain is at the 12 o'clock position. When using Pulse in mono mode, make sure to set both trim pots to the same level to maintain a realistic revolving speaker effect.
