HK Audio Polar 10 MKII is a black active column speaker with a peak amplifier of 2000W, it has an integrated DSP with display and controls to view and modify internal parameters, a 4-channel mixer, 2 combo XLR/¼” jack inputs with phantom power, 1 high-impedance TS jack input for instruments and a stereo RCA input with respective volume controls, it features Bluetooth 5.0 True Wireless Stereo connectivity and an XLR output to connect additional subwoofers or other column units. It consists of a subwoofer with a 10” cone, 6 x 3” neodymium drivers for mid-frequencies, and a high-precision 1” tweeter. Its frequency response (-10dB) ranges from 38Hz to 20,000Hz and has a peak SPL of 130dB.

The new HK Audio POLAR MKII columns

In the new Polar MKII column by HK Audio, we have six 3” neodymium drivers for mid-frequencies mounted in an aluminum frame with a new triangular shape that gives greater structural robustness and has been designed to minimize resonance. The 1” tweeter provides 120° horizontal and 30° vertical coverage over the listening area. New connectors designed for even more solid and secure fastening ensure signal transmission from the amplifier module and subwoofer to the mid-high section. If the audience is seated or if we need to install the Polar 10 MKII system on stage, it can be mounted without the central speaker support part.

The HK Audio Polar 10 MKII subwoofer

The new cabinet design made of birch plywood significantly reduces resonance for powerful and defined sound, and intelligently placed recessed handles on the top and bottom make it easy to transport. The Polar 10 MKII subwoofer has an increased internal volume compared to its predecessor and offers greater sound pressure for high performance and long-range coverage.

The integrated mixer

Polar 10 MKII offers an integrated 4-channel mixer with separate volume controls for channels and master, Bluetooth 5.0, and TWS. 2 channels dedicated to line or microphone signals have a ¼'' XLR/jack combo input where phantom power can be activated to use condenser microphones, a high-impedance channel that allows us to directly connect a guitar, and an AUX channel that has a stereo RCA input for connecting DJ equipment and, also the same, is equipped with Bluetooth connection for connecting smartphones or other devices. Each of these channels is equipped with a potentiometer for independent input volume control. We find a dedicated control for the subwoofer volume and a rotary encoder that allows us to navigate through the DSP functions and adjust the Master volume. We also have a Mix Out on an XLR connector, which is not affected by the master equalization. In this new model, we find a USB-C 5V-0.9A that allows us to power smartphones and other portable devices.

Display and DSP

The display shows, by default, 4 meters indicating the signal level of the 4 inputs and, on the right, a numerical value corresponding to the master volume. By pressing the rotary encoder that manages the master volume, we can access the menu functions; by pressing it a second time, we can modify the selected parameter.

    
• BT ON/OFF: we can activate the connection with an external device or by selecting BTWS (true wireless stereo) to enable stereo playback on two Polar MKII systems from a Bluetooth-connected device
    
• PRESETS: allows us to choose a factory preset dedicated to music playback, speech, or electronic music (DJ)
    
• PH POWER: allows us to activate/deactivate phantom power on the first 2 inputs
    
• HI EQ: adjustment of high frequencies on the Master channel
    
• MID EQ: adjustment of mid frequencies on the Master channel
    
• MID FREQ: allows us to choose which frequency the 'MID EQ' parameter affects
    
• LOW EQ: adjustment of low frequencies on the Master channel

-Equalization has no effect on the XLR Mix Out output-

    
• DELAY: if we want to use Polar as a Delay Line speaker, from here we can set the distance from the main system in meters, in steps of 25cm at a time

When the master encoder is not used for 8 seconds, the menu screen automatically closes, and the display returns to show the main screen with the 4 meters and the master volume.
