Description

The MC406 CAE Buffer is the buffer made by MXR in collaboration with Custom Audio Electronics, equipped with a slider that adds up to +6 dB and Hi/Lo cut switches to compensate for signal loss.

OVERVIEW OF THE MXR MC406 CAE BUFFER

When the instrument's signal goes to the amplifier through long cables and/or different effects with variable impedance, some signal degradation is inevitable. Inserting the CAE Buffer into the chain solves this problem. The MC406 is a low-noise buffer in a small, rugged case. It can add up to +6 dB of gain with the front slider, and compensates for signal loss that can occur when combining pedals with different impedance levels. It also precisely adjusts signal recovery thanks to the Hi and Lo cut switches, and has an additional output for a tuner, a separate effects chain or an amplifier, and can be set to receive a buffered or unbuffered signal. The 9-volt DC output provides power to another pedal.

CONTROLS OF THE MXR MC406 CAE BUFFER

Output 1: sends the direct or buffered signal
Output 2: sends the buffered signal
Input: receives the instrument signal
Hi Cut: this switch cuts the high frequencies of the buffered signal
Gain: this slider adds up to +6 dB of gain to the buffered signal
Lo Cut: cuts the low frequencies of the buffered signal
Buffer switch (internal): allows you to choose whether to send a direct signal (up, not passing through the buffer) or a buffered signal (down) to Output 1
