The HD12-28 (2025) is the 12-string acoustic guitar with a Dreadnought shape from Martin & Co.'s "Standard" series, made with a Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, selected Hardwood neck, and Ebony fretboard. It features GE-Non-Scalloped bracing, a further lowered GE Modified Low Oval neck profile, and more rounded heel, neck, and bridge edges for greater comfort, along with bone bridge pins. It has a 46mm nut, a 633mm scale length, and a gloss finish on the top, back, and sides.

One of the main innovations of the 2025 Standard series is the use of Golden Era (GE) Sitka spruce bracing for the top, a detail also present in the Modern Deluxe series, which gives a more vintage and airy tone, with enhanced sustain. The GE Modified "Low Oval" neck profile maintains the classic shape but has been optimized to offer a vintage appeal. The fretboard has been thinned and features rounded edges for greater comfort, while the string spacing at the nut has been perfected. The new GE "modern belly" bridge features softer, more comfortable angles. Standard Series guitars are now equipped with bone or ebony bridge pins, depending on the model. Aesthetic updates include an elongated neck diamond, an angled nut, and a more articulated, vintage-style heel.
