Description

The performance of the Genelec 8040B system, compact bi-amplified monitors, is comparable to higher-end systems. Ideal in all cases where a wide frequency response is needed, even in small spaces. The most common uses for this product are as nearfields in project/home studios, workstations, control rooms, broadcast, TV, and mobile media. The ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) function reduces the system's power consumption to less than 0.5 watts by automatically putting the monitor into standby when no signal is detected at the inputs for a certain period of time. As soon as an incoming audio signal is detected, the system is instantly reactivated. This ISS function is compatible with new EU regulations and the ErP Directive 2013, which regulates the power consumption of electronic equipment. The reflex port has been designed to provide clear and defined bass, free from distortion, compression, or interference. The combination of the waveguide control, Genelec Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™), the rounded corners, and the subtle curvature of both the front and the cabinet, MDE™ (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™), results in a surprisingly flat frequency response both on-axis and off-axis. Another great advantage is extremely precise and detailed imaging and minimal listening fatigue. A sophisticated crossover filter system processes the signal that is sent to the amplifiers: each very low-distortion speaker has a dedicated one. The 8040B is equipped as standard with magnetic shielding, overload protection circuitry, and a versatile environmental correction system. The holes on the back allow for correct and secure wall mounting. Each 8040B is equipped with an Iso-Pod™ (Isolation Positioner/Decoupler™), a support that eliminates any sound coloration by decoupling the monitor from the surface on which it is placed. The Iso-Pod™ also allows the monitor to be angled to point perfectly on-axis towards the listener. For ideal positioning in any type of environment, the Genelec 8040B includes rear support points for floor or wall stands, as well as an M10 hole on the base.
