Nord Drum 3P is a super compact drum synthesizer from Nord, combining ease of use and extensive sound design possibilities for creating electronic percussive sounds. It features multi-synthesis sound generation with: Resonant synthesis, subtractive synthesis, FM synthesis, and Ring Modulation. It has an integrated Multi-Pad with 6 dynamic pads, Reverb and Delay effects, quick sound selection, and custom Drum Kit programming.

Creating sounds with Nord Drum 3P

The TONE Section of Nord Drum 3P

Tone produces timbrally and spectrally complex sounds, it has 4 different synthesis modes: Resonant synthesis, Subtractive Synthesis, Frequency Modulation (FM synthesis) and Ring Modulation synthesis.

    
• Resonant synthesis offers a wide variety of complex harmonic spectra, inspired by sound material such as: drum skins, marimbas, vibraphones, plates and cymbals. An exclusive function allows tuning the harmonic spectrum.
    
• Subtractive Wave, subtractive synthesis, includes: Sine, Saw, Square, Pulse waveforms and T-Bridge Oscillators, and is particularly suitable for reproducing synth-like percussive sounds and effects.
    
• FM Synthesis - FM synthesis, has 6 different FM algorithms, with the Frequency parameter controlling the modulation amplitude, and Spectra adjusting the modulation frequency.
    
• The Ring Modulation mode provides 2 different types of Ring Modulation.

The NOISE Section of Nord Drum 3P

This section produces noise in a very versatile way. It is possible to create any type of noise from the most subtle to the most aggressive, which gives the sound more consistency and complexity. The noise can be shaped with filters: Low-Pass, High-Pass and Band-Pass, with Cut Off and Resonance control. Once the desired noise type is programmed, it can be adjusted to respond dynamically to Velocity, with the Dyn Filter parameter. The Decay control is equally effective, allowing the choice between modes: Linear, Exponential and Gated. The Dynamic Decay mode sets different Decay lengths to be assigned to stronger or weaker hits.

The CLICK Section of Nord Drum 3P

This section adds a short attack transient to the sound that increases dynamic impact. A wide assortment of different Clicks is available, with adjustable levels to properly blend them with the other components to produce a single coherent timbre.

Drive, EQ and Ring Modulation

These effects are individually available for each of the 6 synthesis channels. Drive adds distortion for a rougher sound, Crush reduces the sampling rate for the typical Lo-Fi effect, and Ring Modulation makes each timbre spectrally more complex and aggressive, even chaotic. Each channel also has a dedicated Equalizer with Gain and selectable Q-Range.

Delay & Reverb

Reverb and Delay are high-quality effects that globally affect Drum 3P, but their intensity is adjustable for each synthesis channel. These are the effects that typically add spaciousness and ambience to your percussion.

The FACTORY sounds of Nord Drum 3P

The Factory banks include 8 categories with high-quality Sound Presets that are easily assignable to the 6 Pads. It is a very useful resource, especially during rehearsals where it is necessary to find the right sound in a very short time. The categories include: Kicks, Snares, Toms, Claps, Cymbals and Hi-hats Melodic, Effects, Materials, Synth.

The connectivity of Nord Drum 3P

Nord Drum 3P with integrated Multi Pad, can control or be controlled by other external units via MIDI In/Out. It has a dedicated trigger input to control one of the Pads, typically the Kick.
