Description

N8 is an audio signal distribution device that uses Cranborne Audio's C.A.S.T. system to transform network cables (Cat 5e, Cat 6, or Cat 7) into 4-channel analog snakes and breakout boxes, which can be used to route signals in the studio or on stage. N8 features 25-pin DSub input/output connectors and converts 8 analog inputs and 8 analog outputs into Cranborne Audio's proprietary C.A.S.T. system. This creates an ingenious plug-and-play signal routing with any other C.A.S.T.-enabled product. With 4 C.A.S.T. ports, the N8 allows you to connect up to 4 Cranborne Audio breakout boxes simultaneously for 16 channels. Since each C.A.S.T. port is bidirectional, 2 inputs and 2 outputs are sent/received with each C.A.S.T. connector and cable. By connecting a Cranborne Audio N22H* to an N8, you can place an artist with 2 microphones and headphones in one room, receiving the microphone signal and sending the headphone mix from a completely different room. All with a single network cable! Or you can use the N8 with 4 N22Hs to send a headphone mix to musicians located in the live room or the next room. Since C.A.S.T. works over distances up to 100m, you can truly connect anywhere. Thanks to dedicated switches for C.A.S.T. output routing on the front panel, each C.A.S.T. connection on the N8 can send the same stereo signal from inputs 1-2 to all connected C.A.S.T. devices (or separate stereo signals to each of them) if artists need to hear their own mix. C.A.S.T. is a high-quality plug-and-play system for transporting audio from point A to point B in an organized manner without complicated cabling. Additionally, it supports +48V Phantom power, to power active DI boxes and condenser microphones. Given that network cables are now commonplace even in home environments, wiring an entire studio with Cat5, Cat6, Cat7 and C.A.S.T. cables is much more economical than traditional XLRs. Thanks to a completely passive design (no power is needed to use it) N8 is ideal for the stage, small enough to be hidden in the rack or rack-mountable with the appropriate kit (optional).
