The QSC CP12 is a powered loudspeaker driven by a 1000W Class D amplifier with 800W peak for lows and 200W peak for highs, offering a frequency response of (-6dB) 49Hz to 20kHz with a maximum of 126dBSPL. It features one Combo XLR/ ¼’’ input for line input (A), one Combo XLR/ ¼’’ connector for Mic/Line input (B), one 3.5mm stereo mini-jack input (C), and an XLR output for Main Mix Out. The mixer on the rear panel has two input signal adjustments; the first controls the levels of inputs A and C, while the second only controls the Mic/Line signal level for input B. With the MIC BOOST command, we can provide +25dB input to channel B to directly connect a microphone. There is a 6-position selector that allows us to set the speaker's equalization curve for different modes: Default, Default Ext. Sub, Dance, Dance Ext. Sub, Floor Monitor, and Speech.

Power and accuracy thanks to amplifier and DSP

The 1000 Watt peak amplifier provides ample speaker power. Cooling occurs through heat dissipation, so installation at a minimum distance of 15cm from the wall is recommended. QSC guarantees that even in extreme climates, the speaker remains at an ideal operating temperature without generating background noise. The dynamic processes applied by the DSP ensure driver protection and prevent audio distortion during performance. The result is an extremely accurate and musical sound that maintains full signal integrity, even when pushed to high SPL.

Audio inputs and integrated two-channel mixer

On the rear of the speaker, for input A, we find a Combo XLR/¼’’ jack connector for line input with its respective input level control. For input B, there's a second Combo XLR/¼’’ jack connector for Mic/Line signal with volume control, and additionally, there's a switch to activate the 'MIC BOOST' function, designed to directly connect a microphone to the loudspeaker, providing an immediate +25dB gain to channel B. For input C, we have a 3.5mm mini-jack for connecting MP3 sources, smartphones, or computers. The volume of this input is controlled by the same potentiometer that adjusts the volume of input A. On the back, there's an XLR connector dedicated to Mix Out, where signals from inputs A, B, and C converge. This input configuration is useful for small live situations where we can connect an instrument to input A, a microphone source to input B, and an MP3 player to the stereo input C for playback of, for example, backing tracks or rhythmic parts, thus creating a simple and quick setup for a small performance without the need for an external mixer.

EQ curves dedicated to various uses

QSC CP12 offers 6 equalization presets for the most common uses:

    
• Default: This is the speaker's full-range mode, for live music and instrumental use
    
• Default Ext. Sub: If we want to pair the CP12 with a subwoofer, selecting this mode will apply an 80Hz high-pass filter to exclude the signal below that cutoff frequency from the speaker
    
• Dance: This preset reinforces low frequencies and simultaneously adds clarity to mid-highs, best suited for electronic or pop music
    
• Dance Ext. Sub: If we want to pair the CP12 with a subwoofer, we will apply an 80Hz high-pass filter to the speaker, resulting in greater clarity in the mid-highs from the speaker, and the low frequencies sent to the sub will be reinforced by a few dB.
    
• Floor Monitor: We will have a more balanced and stable signal for using the speaker with microphones in close proximity
    
• Speech: Available only for microphone input B, it improves vocal intelligibility when a microphone is used. Inputs A and C remain unchanged so as not to alter other sound sources.

Thanks to the Directivity Matched Transition^® (DMT) design that matches the woofer's coverage angle to the horn's pattern to ensure a consistent response across the entire area of the venue where it is installed. Intrinsic Correction™ is also used to ensure precise equalization response.

The result is an extremely accurate loudspeaker that performs well in a wide range of spaces regardless of their acoustics.

Thanks to its robust polypropylene cabinet, QSC CP12 can be used in main PA applications and is also effective as a stage monitor thanks to a dedicated equalization curve and non-slip feet on the rear that allow for stable on-stage installation. The 35mm pole mount socket allows for pole mounting and is equipped with 2 M8 nuts for suspension mounting with a yoke system.
