Overdrive/Distortion

The CostaLab Bad Angel is a pedal with two characters:

an open, defined, and dynamic overdrive, but also a powerful distortion that reaches high levels of saturation, always maintaining excellent definition and a tone with a lot of character.

Simply by varying the position of the Drive knob, it is possible to obtain sounds ranging from a slight crunch to distortions suitable for hard rock and beyond.

The "Saint Sinner" button selects one of the two clipping circuits developed over years of testing and field trials. This results in two very different characters.

One is more compressed and classic, the other much more open, modern, and dynamic.

The tone knob allows the guitarist to optimize their sound, spanning a precise and totally usable range, without ever exceeding technically possible but practically unusable settings.

The Bad Angel circuit is based on an operational amplifier with noise and stability characteristics ten times superior to normal operational amplifiers with Mosfet technology.

Like all CostaLab products, this pedal is very quiet, even with the most extreme settings.

This is possible thanks to the improvements made to the entire circuit and in particular to the power supply lines, which are doubly filtered.

The Bad Angel is equipped with a "true bypass" mechanical switch system with gold-plated contacts and an anti-pop system.

The pedal is powered by 9-volt DC via the classic 2.1 mm DC connector with center negative.

It is possible to over-power the circuit up to 12 volts DC to obtain a sound with greater headroom.

The unit can also operate with a 9-volt battery. In this case, the circuit is activated by inserting the input jack.

To extend battery life, it is advisable to remove the input jack from its socket when not in use.

However, it is possible to keep the battery inside the pedal even when it is powered via the DC socket because the power supply system is able to automatically exclude it.

The pedal measures 118 x 60 x 34 cm excluding knobs and jacks.
