This small-diameter 3-piece kit features 100% birch shells, offering uncompromising Stage Custom sound. It's ideal for jazz, light session work, performances in small venues, and general use as a second kit. The tom and floor tom come with factory-coated heads. The shell is a key factor in a drum's ability to "rumble" or resonate. Consequently, the Stage Custom uses 100% birch, a classic in the realm of high-class drums. Furthermore, with its six-ply construction, the Stage Custom accurately transmits vibrations produced on the impact surface, achieving performance that overwhelms anything in its category. The secret to our YESS system is twofold: first, it provides minimal contact between the hardware and the shell; second, it connects the hardware at the drum's nodal point, the point where it will not interfere with the shell's vibration.

Nylon bushings on the rod clamps offer maximum stability. The YESS system allows for close tom placement and does not interfere with quick head changes. On floor toms, our YESS system offers completely open sustain while keeping the toms stable even under the heaviest blows. The nodal point mounting is patented by the Noble & Cooley drum company. A tribute to Yamaha's design technology, our original ball mount and clamp have undergone very few changes over the years. A large, ultra-hard resin ball sits in an attractive chrome housing, held in place by an ergonomic titanium wing bolt. It's the ideal mount for drummers, offering non-slip positioning virtually anywhere the drummer can imagine. Additionally, it allows for bottom head tuning by simply rotating the drum.
