In addition to a wide range of voices taken from the famous MOTIF synthesizer series, the DTX-MULTI 12 features numerous new percussion sounds and effects that have been collected using advanced Yamaha sampling techniques, for a total of 1,277 voices. The DTX-MULTI 12 includes not only digital sounds but also DJ sounds and a rich variety of voices from percussion, chromatic percussion, folk and acoustic instruments. WAV and AIFF audio files can be imported from USB memory devices and used as voices. The DTX-MULTI 12 functions as a playback device with Flash ROM and 64MB battery. In addition to significant chorus and reverb effects, the MULTI 12 also features a Variation effects unit that can be used to enhance individual voices.
