Description

WHE707 Supa-Puss Analog Delay is the analog delay by Way Huge that boasts up to 900ms of delay, with a wide range of controls for complete customization, including tap tempo, rhythmic note subdivision, and modulation.

OVERVIEW

The Way Huge Supa-Puss Analog Delay was designed by delay master Jeorge Tripps to explore the true potential of analog delay, with an "eternity" of delay and precise control over all parameters. Tripps equipped the Supa-Puss with six bucket-brigade chips, offering up to 900 milliseconds of delay.

With the Tap Tempo button, you can program up to three full seconds of delay in real-time for the most ethereal atmospheres. The basic mode of the Tap Tempo function is the Subdivision Mode, which allows you to set the subdivision of repetitions, while switching to Chase mode, we can choose the rhythmic sequence of repetitions, creating unique effects.

In addition to the normal Delay and Feedback controls, Tripps included several functions: Tone for shaping the color, Gain for adding distortion to the delay, the Speed and Deep controls for adding liquid and shimmering textures via the Supa-Puss's LFO modulation circuit. Furthermore, Tripps added a Mix control to blend the effected (Wet) and clean (Dry) signals. Finally, the Supa-Puss has a jack to connect an external expression pedal with which to control the delay time.

POWER SUPPLY

The WHE707 Supa-Puss Analog Delay can be powered by a 9V battery or, alternatively, by an AC power adapter such as the Dunlop ECB003, DC Brick, or Iso-Brick.

CONTROLS

Tap Tempo: allows you to program the delay in real-time for up to three seconds;
Delay Trails: prevents the delay from stopping after the pedal has been turned off via the ON/OFF switch. Press the Tap Tempo switch for about 5 seconds to enable this function, indicated by the Trails LED;
Delay: adjusts the delay time from 50ms to 900ms;
Feedback: determines the number of repetitions after the initial attack;
Mix: blends the effected signal with the clean signal;
Depth: adjusts the amount of modulation in the delay;
Speed: sets the speed of the modulation;
Gain: adds distortion to the delay;
Tone: with the knob to the left, a darker delay tone is obtained, to the right, brighter;
Expression Pedal: input for connecting an external expression pedal capable of controlling the delay time;
Subdivision Mode: in this mode, any tempo tapped via the Tap Tempo footswitch will result in a delay subdivided according to one of four note values: a quarter, a dotted eighth, a triplet eighth, or a sixteenth. Pressing the Feedback knob once switches from one subdivision to the next.
Chase Mode: in this mode, the delay automatically switches from one rhythmic subdivision to another in sequence. The Tap Tempo footswitch determines the speed of the transition from one subdivision to another. To activate this mode, press and hold the Feedback knob for about 3-4 seconds until the four subdivision LEDs start flashing in sequence. There are 5 types of sequences, and pressing the Feedback knob switches from one to the next.

STRENGTHS

  • Extreme versatility and customization;
  • Two different modes;
  • Delay time up to 900 milliseconds.
