Based on an EF86 pentode tube and featuring the same warm, smooth sound as the original, the WA-67 excels at recording any source and can immediately become the ideal choice for vocals, guitars, toms and drum overheads, keyboards, brass, and strings.Warm Audio doesn't just produce equipment similar to the original but of lower quality; quite the opposite: the American brand dedicates a great deal of time and effort to getting as close as possible to the heart and soul of vintage models. The Texan engineers have gone to great lengths to recreate the original microphone's discrete circuit, using top-quality components to ensure that nothing interferes with the pure tube magic. The sound and vibe of the original '67 have been recreated in the WA-67. It's a fundamental thing. With this in mind, Warm Audio went to great lengths to recreate the capsule of the original '67, ensuring it behaved the same way, had the same frequency response, and the same sonic character as the original. This meant not only that the bore type was identical but also that the entire assembly was brass (including the mounting rings), just like the original model. It takes more time than using different materials, but extra effort for this microphone was necessary.
