Description

The WA-47 is a large-diaphragm tube microphone inspired by the classic '47 condenser microphone used on a vast number of musical hits over the past decades. It is designed for use in professional studios, home studios, live, and broadcast applications and is suitable for a multitude of uses; in particular, it is perfect for recording vocals, guitars, basses (both acoustic and electric), drums, piano, strings, and wind instruments. The WA-47 uses a custom reproduction of the vintage capsule of the original models, designed with the same diagram and frequency response. The tube, with extremely low gain and self-noise, can guarantee high efficiency with significant performance compared to other higher-gain tubes. The Made in USA TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) transformer integrates many laminated components imported from Germany and helps to provide the microphone with the characteristic sound expected from a '47 style condenser microphone. warmaudiowa47_1.jpg One of the components of a tube microphone that is often overlooked is the 7-pin cable that connects the microphone to its power supply. For this reason, Warm Audio has formalized a partnership with the Swiss company Gotham Audio to use the high-end GAC-7 cable. This particular, high-quality and very expensive cable increases the presence and overall width of the recorded image in the stereo field, reducing phase problems and unwanted effects. The original '47 became very popular as a vocal microphone in the 1960s and is still considered one of the best ever built. This 'historic' model is still widely used in recording studios around the world but has become difficult to find, as it is extremely rare and expensive. For this reason, Warm Audio decided to introduce the WA-47 - inspired by the original '47 - to the market at a significantly more affordable price.
