Description

The WA-44 is the first ribbon microphone made by Warm Audio and draws inspiration from the iconic RCA 44 microphone, which in almost a century of history has been used in the most important recording and broadcasting contexts, from radios in the 1930s to all major phases of global discography production, particularly in the 1950s and 1960s, with recording sessions featuring figures such as Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, etc. Given its peculiar characteristics, the warmth and precision guaranteed by the use of ribbon for transduction, this microphone is still widely used by contemporary artists such as Beck, Wilco, and many others. The WA-44 combines a custom-made 99.1% Japanese aluminum ribbon with a large, heavy neodymium magnet, powered by a US-made CineMag transformer, to deliver classic ribbon sound but with greater durability. Offering the iconic tonal experience that has made recording and radio broadcasting history, the WA-44 faithfully recreates the warm, vintage tones of the legendary 1930s RCA 44 ribbon microphone. Like the model it's based on, the WA-44 excels on high-volume audio sources and removes unwanted noise thanks to its tight figure-8 polar pattern. Ideal for vocal recordings that benefit from high-frequency reduction, the WA-44 is also perfect for capturing horn sections, strings, piano, drums, and much more. The WA-44 weighs over two kilograms and comes with a Gotham XLR Star-Quad shielded cable and a high-quality case; all these components combine to bring a classic microphone back to life with a quality vintage construction.
