The Highest Quality Cables Today With Warm Audio cables, the company wanted to offer the highest possible quality at a fairly low price. Gotham was known as the original supplier for some major brands (their 3-conductor cable was simply known as the “Neumann cable”), and today their current cable construction techniques represent the state of the art. Premier Vs. Pro Warm produces two lines of cables (Premier and Professional) to offer the widest range of options and the highest possible quality at two different price points. Both lines take advantage of Gotham's state-of-the-art construction quality and offer extremely high-quality performance with perfect signal transfer and ultimate reliability. Both lines produce fabulous results, but the Premier Line enjoys superior advantages such as gold-plated connectors, a braided outer jacket, four-conductor Starquad construction, and Double-Reussen shielding. Simply put, there is no better-sounding and more durable cable on the planet at this price! What does "Starquad" mean? A traditional balanced cable uses three wires to carry audio signals: one shielded for positive, one shielded for negative, and a simple outer jacket that acts as ground. A balanced cable effectively rejects unwanted noise by canceling out common signals on both the positive and negative conductors. Starquad construction goes further and uses four wires instead of two: two each for positive and negative and a single ground. This helps to further shield the audio from RFI (radio frequency interference) even more than a traditional 3-conductor cable. What is "Double-Reussen" shielding? Most cable construction techniques use an outer wire wrap for ground. Some manufacturers braid this wire, while others simply wrap the wires uniformly to protect the inner wires from electromagnetic interference. Double-Reussen shielding goes far beyond more traditional techniques in two ways: Firstly, the cable is wrapped with not one but TWO separate shields, and secondly, the outer shield is wrapped in the opposite direction to the inner one. This creates stronger, more comprehensive EMI shielding and can lead to a surprising reduction in interference. Double-Reussen shielding is a little more expensive to produce but currently represents the pinnacle of balanced cable technology. Why use gold and silver connectors? Precious metals are not just beautiful: some also have characteristics that are advantageous for signal transfer. While the actual audio transfer capability of gold and silver connectors is approximately similar (out of context, silver is actually slightly better in this regard), Warm Audio put gold connectors in the Premier line primarily because gold offers more corrosion resistance than other precious metals. In any case, both Premier and Pro sound great: the cables do not color the audio signal at all! How does the braided outer jacket help? Warm Audio uses a braided nylon outer jacket on the Premier line for a number of reasons: the jacket removes the friction that occurs when rubber or PVC rub together, so it is much easier to handle and wrap the cable. It also adds an element of strength and reliability, as it helps protect the cable's PVC jacket from damage due to pinching or binding during transport.
