Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 is a USB/MIDI and Wireless shoulder keyboard with an updated MIDI control section, optimized for live performance to ensure greater comfort and playability, accompanied by a set of virtual instrument software to provide keyboardists, live performers, and DJs with a complete solution. This Keytar format MIDI controller connects wirelessly to any PC and Mac computer via a USB dongle receiver/transmitter and integrates perfectly with any virtual instrument, plug-in, and DAW software.

The MIDI controls on the surface of the Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 include a 37-key keyboard (3 octaves, with transpose capable of covering up to 10 octaves) sensitive to velocity and aftertouch, 8 backlit pads (RGB) for controlling clips, samples, or percussion, 8 faders with backlit guides for controlling parameters such as volume, filter, or anything else controllable by MIDI Control Change messages, a touch strip with 3 different CC messages reproducible by selecting them from the dedicated button (1, 3, and 3), an accelerometer sensor that recognizes movements from bottom to top to translate them into a MIDI control message freely assignable by the user, zone buttons, sustain, and dedicated octave transposition keys. The accelerometer can be disabled by the user using the dedicated "Tilt" button and has a calibration procedure useful for adapting it to different performance modes. A spring-loaded wheel for pitch bend control and a fader pre-assigned to CC 7 are also available, both further configurable as needed within the editor software.

Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 guarantees performers maximum connection freedom: wireless, by connecting the included USB receiver to the computer (PC or Mac) or to interfaces and instruments equipped with a type "A" USB port (Host), or wired by connecting it via USB or with a traditional MIDI cable to any computer, iOS device, or MIDI instrument equipped with a MIDI IN port. For MIDI DIN and wireless connections, the Vortex Wireless 2 is powered by 4 AA batteries (not included in the package, but available for purchase separately). For USB wired connection, the computer will directly power the keytar.

Included with the Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 are a standard guitar strap and a USB cable. Regarding the rich software package, which the user will need to download from their private area on the Alesis website once the product is registered, it includes the Vortex Wireless 2 Editor, which allows for simplified configuration of the MIDI messages transmissible by the various physical controls, thus enabling the creation, saving, and loading of presets, and the following virtual instruments: Hybrid 3, Loom 2, Vacuum Pro, and Xpand!2 produced by AIR Music Tech, TimewARP 2600 by Way Out Ware, and a Lite version of the Ableton Live music production and live performance software.
