Description

After the monotron, monotribe, and MS-20 mini, Korg announces the new VOLCA analog synthesizer series: Volca Keys Lead synthesizer, Volca Bass bass synthesizer and the Volca Beats rhythm machine.

Volca is the new line consisting of 3 analog synthesizers produced by Korg, equipped with a sequencer, a MIDI IN port, and dedicated to generating lead sounds, bass, or electronic drums. These instruments allow for rich and full analog sonorities to be achieved easily, thanks to carefully selected parameters. The integrated loop sequencer allows for extremely intuitive creation of musical phrases, bass lines, or rhythms. You can use them alone, in tandem, all together, connected to each other, or with your DAW. This is possible thanks to the presence of a MIDI IN port that allows you to play the Volca series synths from MIDI keyboards or from your computer-based DAW, or by using the sync jack input and output which allow synchronization with other analog instruments (monotribe, for example) and/or with the SyncKontrol app for iPhone. Equipped with an auto-tuning function for the oscillators, which prevents the detuning often affecting analog synths, the Volca by Korg series synthesizers can be powered by 6 AA batteries (or by mains with the optional Korg KA-350 power supply) and feature an integrated speaker, allowing you to play anywhere, from the recording studio to club consoles, on trains, on planes, during your relaxing moments in the park.

KORG VOLCA KEYS: ANALOGUE LOOP SYNTH
Volca Keys is the ideal synthesizer for taking your first steps into sound synthesis. Featuring an analog synthesis engine with 3 voices of polyphony (3VCO), a multi-touch keyboard, filter, LFO, EG, delay, MIDI input, and a simple loop sequencer, the Korg Volca Keys will allow you to record musical phrases played from its multi-touch keyboard, and then play them back using the Motion Sequence, Active Step, and Flux functions to process them in real-time, even during live performances. Thanks to the filtering section derived from the circuit of the legendary miniKORG700S synth (1974) and the half-century of experience accumulated by the Japanese company in synthesizer design, the Korg Volca Keys is capable of generating astonishing sounds considering its extremely compact size and simple synthesis structure (3VCO, 1VCF, 1VCA, 1LFO, 1EG), which also features a delay effect and a sequencer. You can use the three oscillators to play chords, configure them in unison to create powerful lead melodic lines with detuning, or subject them to the ring modulator to create more metallic sounds. The configuration of the 6 different modes available for the VCOs can be set using a dedicated stepped potentiometer, which will allow you to choose between: Poly, Unison, Octave, Fifth, Unison Ring, or Poly Ring. The delay effect, which you can adjust by varying the time and feedback parameters, will provide sounds in the style of vintage tape delays, creating pitch fluctuations when you adjust the time parameter. The integrated 16-step loop sequencer offers internal memory capable of storing up to 8 patterns. You can record musical phrases by playing them directly from the instrument's multi-touch keyboard and create more complex sequences with the overdub option. The Motion Sequence function allows you to record potentiometer movements to create real-time parameter automation during playback of the recorded sequence. To interact in real-time with the pattern, you can use the Active Step functions to optionally deactivate some steps of the sequence, thus recreating a kind of looper and creating particular rhythmic patterns, and Flux, which plays the sequence without applying quantization.

KORG VOLCA KEYS SPECIFICATIONS
- 27-note Multi-touch type keyboard
- Synthesis type: analog
- Maximum polyphony: 3 voices
- Synthesis structure: 3VCO, 1VCF, 1VCA, 1LFO, 1EG
- VCO: Octave, Ring Modulation, Detune, Portamento, EG Int.
- VCO waveforms: sawtooth and square
- VCF: Cutoff, Peak, EG Int
- Filter type (VCF): 12 db/octave Low Pass
- LFO: Rate, Pitch Int, Cutoff Int, Wave (Sawtooth, Triangle, Square)
- Envelope (EG): Attack, Decay/Release, Sustain
- Delay Effect: Time, Feedback, Temp Sync
- 16-step single-part sequencer
- 8 storable patterns for the sequencer
- Audio output: 3.5mm stereo mini jack
- Sync In: mono mini jack (Max input level: 20V)
- Sync Out: mono mini jack (Max Out level: 5V)
- MIDI: In on standard DIN connector
- Can be powered by 6 AA batteries
- Battery life: approximately 10 hours (with alkaline batteries)
- Optional power adapter: AC adapter "KA-350"
- Dimensions: 193×115×46 mm
- Weight: 377 grams (excluding batteries)

To purchase the optional Korg KA-350 power adapter, not included:
http://www.masterservice.tk/catalogo/product_info.php?products_id=482
