The Tone Sculptor is the equalizer pedal from Vox's "Valvenergy" series, equipped with a Nutube vacuum tube and specifically designed for electric guitar use. Featuring a unique LED display that shows the signal response to the effect, it consists of 6 frequency bands specially developed for guitar and a Level slider for output volume. As with all Valvenergy pedals, the Tone Sculptor recreates tube sounds, delivering the typical natural compression of a tube amp.

Overview of the Vox Valvenergy Tone Sculptor

A graphic equalizer that allows you to set the frequency range and Q amplitude specifically for guitar tone shaping. With Nutube in the preamp section, increasing the level adds characteristic tube harmonics and compression. Choose frequency bands of 100Hz/250Hz/570Hz/800Hz/2.2kHz/5.6kHz, designed for intuitive tone shaping. To facilitate active tone shaping, the frequency bands are set to be more effective by widening the Q amplitude compared to a typical graphic equalizer. It is easy to use for switching from backing to solo, as well as for general adjustments. The inclusion of the Nutube in the preamplifier provides musical distortion when the level is increased. The absence of a central click is intentionally designed for easy and precise adjustment.

Decrease low frequencies and increase higher ones for a clean-toned arpeggio, ensuring each string sounds distinct. Boost the mids to facilitate solo articulation, or set them sharply to create a cutting sound in heavy performances. Its versatility allows for various sonic options.

The Valvenergy series has been welcomed as a series of pedals that offers the response of a tube amplifier, and now four new models join the range.
All models feature next-generation Nutube tubes and include a booster (Power Burst), a tube compressor (Smooth Impact), an overdrive (Fuel Injector), and a graphic equalizer (Tone Sculptor); a complete series of effects that are a must-have for guitarists. The pedals are designed to leverage all the characteristics of guitars, effects pedals, and amplifiers combined before and after the pedal, and are simple, natural pedals that you never get tired of.

Newly Designed Buffer Circuit

To fully exploit the potential of Nutube, a high-quality buffer for the initial stage, which serves as the primary guitar input point, was essential. As a result, Vox designed a dedicated buffer circuit to meet this requirement. When the effects are off, the Nutube functions as a bypass, providing a natural response and a lightweight feel similar to plugging directly into an amplifier. With the effects on, the buffer characteristics synergize with Nutube's distinctive compression, resulting in a smooth and natural playing experience, with nuances that enhance the performance.

Sound-Inspired Engraved Design

The top panel of the new chassis features an engraved design inspired by the unique sound of each effect pedal. The visual appeal of an effect pedal on a pedalboard is a crucial consideration when choosing your instruments. The organic design of the Valvenergy series can enhance the overall aesthetics of your pedalboard with a fresh and distinctive touch.
