Strongly inspired by the sound and feel of legendary Marshall amplifiers: the PLEXI Super Lead (1959/1987) and Super Bass (1992) series, without master volume, and the JMP & JCM800™ (2203/2204) series with master volume.

Over the years, we've had many different types of Marshall amplifiers on our workbench, some for repairs and others for customization. As big fans of the sound of these classic amplifiers, which continues to thrill us through the music of many artists, we decided to try and capture its mojo - the true essence of the soul of this sound - and carefully place it in a small box. Thus, Room #40 was born!

Using JFET technology, we tried to remain faithful to the sound and feel of the following legendary Marshall amplifiers: the PLEXI Super Lead (1959/1987) and Super Bass (1992) series, both without master volume, and the JMP and JCM800 (2203/2204) series with master volume.

We were maniacal in emulating the compression and 'sag' of the power amp section of these amplifiers when pushed to the limit, while also giving access to two famous mods, the #39 (PLEXI) and the #34 mod (JMP™ & JCM800). Of course, the manifestation of our love for the great Eddie Van Halen, who created the so-called "brown sound" using an ohmite variac (a variable transformer used to lower or raise the input voltage to the amplifier), could not be absent from this effort.

Finally, we incorporated a presence control to make the sound adaptable to any circumstance, whether plugging into the input of an amplifier, which may or may not have a 'bright cap', or even directly into a power amplifier.
