The Builder's Edition 816ce highlights Taylor's transformative design philosophy with carefully crafted finishes, an expansive acoustic tone, and player-focused enhancements. The best playing experience begins with the Indian rosewood back and sides paired with a Lutz spruce top, offering all the low-end warmth and brilliance you'd expect from the classic rosewood/spruce combination with added bloom and resonance from the V-Class bracing. But this Builder's Edition model truly shines in the details, starting with its most significant innovation: the soundport cutaway. Crafted to resemble a partial Florentine cutaway, the design keeps the back of the guitar intact while allowing easy access to the high-register frets. The additional soundhole adds a truly new dimension to the acoustic sound, creating a wide-angle sound that would fit equally well in a classical orchestra as in a rock band or a fingerstyle solo. For aesthetics, we've named this model with a host of player-centric features, including figured maple binding with chamfered edges and rosewood trim, a green abalone single-ring rosette, Windansea shell inlays, and ultra-precise Gotoh 510 tuners in mother-of-pearl and antique gold. The guitar comes with ES2 electronics in a luxurious Taylor hardshell case.
