Description

Numa Organ 2 - All 60s and 70s Vintage organs in one instrument!

Numa Organ 2 uses the most advanced physical modeling algorithms to faithfully emulate the timeless sounds of 60s and 70s Vintage organs: Tone Wheels, Transistor, with accurate study and analysis of their peculiar characteristics; obviously implementing fundamental hardware aspects such as Drawbars for extemporaneous timbre control, and the Waterfall keyboard, up to the reproduction of Vibrato, Chorus, Rotary, Reverb, Drive, Click, and Leakage, essential elements for this type of instrument.

Numa Organ 2 offers incredibly accurate reproduction of the most renowned Tone Wheel organs and more! It also fully captures the personality of these fantastic instruments, while adding extensive editing and control possibilities.

Many instruments in one

On Numa Organ 2 we have 7 different models of electromagnetic, transistor, and pipe (classic liturgical) organs available, which can be selected using the keys of the first octave with inverted colors, and obviously customized according to one's taste or musical needs.

The Timbral Character

As befits an emulative instrument of this type, the keyboard is strictly Waterfall, with 61 keys plus the first 12 with inverted colors for Preset selection (programmable).

Numa Organ 2 is articulated into three distinct sections: Upper, Lower, Pedal. The keyboard can be divided (Split) into two parts, with the split point obviously programmable and with two different Drawbar settings on each part; or with the possibility of using the pedal directly on the bass octaves of the keyboard, a function that can also be performed by connecting a Studiologic MP113 or MP117 Pedalboard (optional).

The main panel houses the typical controls of an electromagnetic organ, such as the 9 Drawbars for timbral control of the sound; the performer, by acting in real-time on the Drawbars, is able to modify the associated harmonics, and thus the resulting timbre, according to the expressive needs of the moment.

Naturally, other coded controls for this type of instrument are available, such as the knob for selecting the Vibrato/Chorus modulation, the percussions with typical parameters such as their footage, volume and decay, and the Rotary Speaker which gives the organ its unmistakable sound, typical of many 70s hits. The Slow/Fast speed of the Rotary can be switched manually via the Pitch Wheel or with a pedal (PS100 Optional).

Other peculiar organ parameters are also available and adjustable, such as:

  • Drive: i.e., the characteristic distortion introduced by the amplifier, which can be adjusted from a clean sound to an aggressive and dynamic one à la John Lord!

  • Key Click: the characteristic noise of the contacts closing for each key, considered a defect in the original instrument, but in the hands of artists like Keith Emerson or Brian Auger, it became a fundamental timbral component.

  • Leakage: in practice, the crosstalk between the circuits, which, depending on the set level, can simulate a new instrument, with a clean sound, fresh out of the factory, or an organ worn by years of tours and stages but with an unmistakable sound.

  • Reverb: the emulation of the typical spring reverb adopted in these instruments, which gives the sound depth, ambience, and a unique character.

The controls are completed by a 2-Band Equalizer which further contributes to characterizing and personalizing the overall sound of Numa Organ 2.

Any personal setting can be stored in one of the 12 memory locations and can be recalled instantly with the keys of the first octave.

Ports and connections

Numa Organ can be connected to a computer via the USB port, for example, to download or upload personal Presets, or to record a performance on a sequencer or DAW. The MIDI ports allow control of the instrument via this standard protocol, or it can be used to control an external sound generator, virtual or real.
