11202-05-L The ultimate medium output overwound Stratocaster pickup, this is the single coil in the bridge position of the David Gilmour Signature Fender Stratocaster. David Gilmour needed a pickup with plenty of punch for his famed Black Strat, so Seymour wound what became the Custom Staggered medium output Stratocaster pickup. It was and continues to be an honor to work with such a legend. The Custom Staggered is a special overwound single-coil that creates a great balance of increased power and classic Stratocaster tonal character. It will deliver bigger, fatter chords and cut through the mix more clearly than a traditional Strat pickup, all while retaining the chime and mojo that make a Strat sound like a Strat. Single notes are bold and strong, and solos really sing. Use in the bridge position with a pair of Vintage Staggered pickups in the neck and middle for the Gilmour-approved setup. Use a Custom Staggered RWRP in the middle for a hum-canceling setup in positions 2 & 4. The Custom Staggered Strat pickup is also available in a 7-string version. The bobbins are constructed with hand-ground Alnico 5 rod magnets, lacquered and wound, and are wax potted for squeal-free performance. We use modern Forbon oval (not triangular) flatwork which allows this pickup to fit into any guitar routed for single-coils.
