Description

The sE8 is a high-quality condenser microphone intended for a wide range of studio and live applications. Thanks to its custom 0.5” (small diaphragm) hand-assembled capsule and transformerless output, the sE8 offers crystal-clear sound quality and a smooth, well-balanced frequency response, making this transducer perfect for many applications, from acoustic guitar to piano to drums.The carefully selected electronics with very low-noise components, together with the attenuation pad, allow the microphone to withstand high sound pressure levels (SPL) for a truly high dynamic range. The two-position low-cut filter helps eliminate unwanted noise such as footfall and can also compensate for excessive low frequencies caused by the proximity effect. This makes the sE8 excellent even in close-miking applications for acoustic instruments and other sources such as electric guitar cabinets, brass instruments, and drums. The robust metal casing and high construction standards make it reliable even "on the road," on stages, and in all conditions of use.The sE8 features a dual PAD switch for attenuation and a dual low-cut filter. The attenuation switch is located at the top on the back of the microphone body. Once activated, the input signal is attenuated by 10 or 20 dB so that high sound pressure sources can be recorded, even at a very close distance, without distortion.The use of the switch also reduces the possibility of saturating the input stages of audio interfaces, mixers, and microphone preamplifiers. The Low-Cut Switch is located on the front right of the microphone and engages a high-pass filter at 80Hz or 160Hz. In the central position, the filter is inactive, for a linear frequency response. Wind noise, plosive consonants, and footfall noise can ruin the signal to be recorded: activating the high-pass filter (low cut filter) reduces these types of disturbances and avoids unwanted distortion.
