Affordable cardioid condenser for vocals and instruments. The X1 S is a high-quality condenser microphone designed for a wide range of studio applications, perfect for recording vocals, percussion, and acoustic instruments in general. Thanks to its custom-designed 1" hand-assembled capsule, the X1 S delivers excellent sound quality and a smooth, well-balanced frequency response. The carefully selected electronics with very low-noise components, along with the attenuation pad, allow the microphone to handle high sound pressure levels (SPL) for a truly high dynamic range. The two-position low-cut filter helps eliminate unwanted noise like footsteps and can also compensate for excessive low frequencies caused by the proximity effect. This makes the X1 S excellent for close-miking acoustic instruments (brass, percussion, etc.) as well as guitar amplifiers. The robust metal casing and high manufacturing standards make it reliable even in live situations under all conditions of use. The X1 S features an attenuation PAD switch and a low-cut filter switch. The attenuation switch is located on the front left side of the microphone. Once activated, the input signal is attenuated by 10 or 20 dB, allowing you to record high sound pressure sources or very close-up without distortion. Using the switch also reduces the possibility of saturating the input stages of audio interfaces, mixers, and microphone preamplifiers. The low-cut switch is located on the front right side of the microphone and engages a high-pass filter at 80Hz (left position) or 160Hz (right position). In the center position, the filter is inactive for a linear frequency response. Wind noise, plosive consonants, and footstep noise can ruin the signal to be recorded: activating the high-pass filter (low-cut filter) reduces these types of disturbances and avoids unwanted distortion. Additionally, the low-cut filter is also useful for minimizing the proximity effect when positioning the microphone very close to the source. As with its predecessor X1, sE Electronics also makes the microphone available with the Studio Bundle and Vocal Pack to add a shock mount and Reflexion Filter to the package.
