Description

Multi-Pattern Tube Microphone designed by Rupert NeveThe RNT is the third microphone developed in collaboration between sE Electronics and RND. This new microphone, offering uncompromising depth and clarity, guarantees an open sound typical of vintage studio microphones. The quality of the transduction is evident from the first stage, thanks to the hand-selected, low-noise EC82 tube inside the chassis and a custom Rupert Neve Designs output transformer. The second stage is the "floor box," which controls the polar pattern, filter, and gain, also featuring an RND output transformer. Everything is then based on the same op-amps as the Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console, which is undoubtedly unrivaled in terms of transparency and headroom. The capsule, the finest ever produced by the company and handmade in sE laboratories after years of listening and testing, is a hand-built large-diaphragm condenser. Silent components and a consistent dynamic range, capable of handling high SPLs, are guaranteed by Class-A electronics and the gain switch. The low-pass filters eliminate any background noise and can also compensate for excess low frequencies due to the proximity effect. This makes the RNT perfect for applications such as close-miking various instruments, including electric guitar cabinets, wind instruments, and drums. Furthermore, the ability to choose from 9 different polar patterns (omnidirectional, cardioid, figure-8, and various intermediate positions) allows for precise definition of the balance between direct and ambient sound.
