RUPERT NEVE DESIGNS 542 Tape Emulator with Variable Silk and Soft Clip Limiter

Description

The 542 True Tape Emulator with Texture is considered a follow-up to the Portico 5042. Both modules are capable of perfectly emulating the sound of tape by utilizing some of the same components found in analog recorders. The module contains a circuit identical to the hardware it emulates: the circuit sends the signal to a tiny magnetic "head" coupled with a specially equalized playback amplifier. The 542 True Tape Emulator also includes the variable Silk/Texture circuitry already present in the Portico II series of modules, which allows for detailed variation of the harmonic ratio and tonal characteristics of the output transformer.
