The SPD-20 has been chosen by thousands of musicians as their main instrument, relying on its versatile tones for daily performance. The OCTAPAD SPD-20 PRO retains every sound from the original percussion pad, while offering an impressive selection of new tones to choose from. In addition, EQ, compression, and three internal effects (each with 38 types of multi-effects) can be applied to a single instrument, further expanding tonal possibilities.

Realistic Sounds from Around the World

The new sounds of the OCTAPAD SPD-20 PRO provide musicians with everything they need to meet the demands of contemporary live performances and studio productions. Sampled with the highest quality, these sounds allow percussionists to realistically cover Asian, African, Latin, and many other World music styles. You also have traditional drum tones available, including top-notch acoustic drums and cymbals, originally developed for the V-Drums TD-27 sound module. In total, over 900 instruments are available for all your musical explorations.

Real-Time Sound Editing for Expressive Performance

The OCTAPAD SPD-20 PRO contains 100 stunningly sounding preset kits, ready to use right out of the box. But you can also customize them to perfectly suit your personal style and the music you are playing. The backlit LCD and direct access buttons support real-time editing of instrument sounds during performance, and multiple tones can be layered on each individual pad via the Pad Link function to create exciting new sounds and textures. In addition, the Kit Chain function allows you to order kits according to your setlist, making it easy to recall what you need during the performance.

Go Beyond the Built-in Pads

To complement its eight sensitive rubber pads, the OCTAPAD SPD-20 PRO is equipped with dual trigger inputs and a dedicated input for hi-hat control. This allows you to build an expanded percussion setup, with a variety of optional Roland trigger pads, including V-Pads with mesh heads, V-Cymbals, and the BT-1 Bar Trigger Pad. And by connecting a kick pad and a Roland hi-hat control pedal, you can transform the OCTAPAD SPD-20 PRO into a powerful mini-drum kit, with excellent response and continuous control of the open/closed hi-hat sound.

Enhanced Executive Functions

With the Version 1.10 update, the OCTAPAD SPD-20 PRO continues to evolve with new additional features. The Pad Link function has been made more powerful, with layering capabilities increased from 4 to 32 sounds. You can also set independent transmit and receive parameters for Pad Link and extend your creative possibilities. In addition, external footswitches can now be assigned to increase and decrease parameter values, with the current value displayed on the screen for instant feedback. This keeps your hands free, ready to create increasingly expressive performances for your audience.
