Ultra-low noise linear audio power supply with μFilter and Sensor TechnologyThe new DPS-2 is an exceptional linear power supply that not only boasts impressive specifications but also a host of unique and extremely useful features, such as two differently filtered outputs. The housing and front panel of the DPS-2 are based on the ADI-2 series, to accommodate RME's innovative circuit design in a half-width rack.The Linear output is a traditional DC output, but it incorporates multi-stage passive and active filtering, including a 30,000 μF capacitor bank, a ferrite inductor, and an active output filter with a hybrid voltage regulator.The second output is based on RME's patented μFilter technology. In this case, the pre-filtered Linear output signal is also processed by highly efficient active filters to achieve an exceptionally clean DC output with noise levels of only a few μV (microvolts). In addition, the output features sensor technology that measures and adapts the output voltage directly at the DC connector of the supplied DC cable. As a result, the output impedance and load regulation are extremely low and ensure a clean +12.0 V output voltage at a 2.5 A load, completely avoiding load-dependent voltage drops.The additional use of a 2-stage RF filter and a DC filter on the AC mains side allows the DPS-2 to deliver optimal performance without interference. This is further enhanced by the 60 VA "audio grade" toroidal transformer with additional isolation winding and magnetic tape shielding, ensuring absolutely hum-free operation in all situations, while the Ground Lift switch can be used to disconnect the DC ground from the grounding circuit, if necessary, to eliminate interference or hum. In this case, safety is not compromised, as the primary and enclosure remain firmly connected to the mains earth. Furthermore, the DPS-2 features a screw ground terminal for grounding other equipment or for using a different ground for audio power.The DPS-2 has two status LEDs on the front panel to provide a quick overview of operating modes and possible malfunctions (power, thermal and power overload, undervoltage, short circuit, active output).
