The brand new Babyface Pro once again demonstrates the extremely high level of build quality from the RME brand, a world leader in the production of professional audio devices, strictly Made in Germany. Made from a single solid aluminum block, this portable professional audio interface integrates entirely redesigned analog and digital circuits and new energy-saving technologies that guarantee optimal quality in all conditions.The first difference that is immediately evident compared to the previous version of the Babyface (now out of production) is the 'on board' availability of all the main connections, without the need for the external break-out cable which is not always practical and functional. For the main inputs and outputs, RME has designed a new XLR socket that integrates perfectly into the chassis, allowing for good space saving. The two headphone outputs, one with a mini jack connector and one parallel TRS, guarantee an optimal signal level for every situation, regardless of the headphones used.The two onboard preamplifiers with digital control provide 48V phantom power, individually selectable: these brand new circuits offer up to 70 dB of gain, adjustable in 3 dB steps, with a relay-based PAD that guarantees an exceptional level of EIN (Equivalent Input Noise), as well as overload protection and optimal gain even for microphones with low levels.The extremely careful design of the Babyface Pro allows you to work without the need for external power in practically every situation. The interface is perfectly stable with a USB 3 bus power supply, but also with most USB 2 connections, without any performance degradation. This makes the Babyface Pro the ideal solution for mobile recording, perfect on any occasion with a pair of condenser microphones.The wide range of connections also includes TOSLINK optical input and output, usable as an ADAT port with SMUX support or as SPDIF for sessions up to 192 kHz. With an external ADAT converter, the Babyface Pro is able to manage 12 analog inputs and 12 analog outputs, becoming a perfect device for multitrack recording in the studio and live. Instrument, line or high impedance signals can be connected to jack inputs 3 & 4, allowing for example to record a guitar 'on the fly' without the need for other hardware. The equipment is completed by a MIDI input and output via a dedicated adapter cable.Naturally, the Babyface Pro also includes RME's TotalMix FX software, available for Windows, Mac OS X and iOS. TotalMix FX allows you to insert EQ, reverb and delay on all input and output channels up to 192 kHz.
