The Custom 24 is the quintessential PRS guitar. This iconic instrument was the first model Paul Reed Smith presented to the public at PRS Guitars' first Winter NAMM in 1985, and it has been a top seller ever since. Played by international artists and aspiring musicians alike, the Custom 24 features the patented PRS Gen III tremolo bridge and two 85/15 pickups with volume, tone, and a 5-way blade switch controls. The 85/15 pickups were designed by Paul Reed Smith himself to offer remarkable clarity and an extended frequency range.

The Custom 24 is the original PRS. Since its introduction, it has offered unique tonal characteristics and defined the PRS sound and playability.

In 2024, PRS Guitars updated the tuners on many core family guitars. Aesthetically, the new Wing tuners recall the design of the bird's wingspan at the 12th fret, and they were designed back in 1982 for sound-related reasons. Being lighter than metal tuners, they subtract less energy from vibrating strings, making the guitar more resonant and increasing sustain.
