Description

D.I. Boxes (Direct Injection Boxes) are essential tools for sound engineers in complex situations, such as live concerts, and in all applications involving the connection of audio equipment with different types of levels, impedances, and connections. Being able to convert audio signals from unbalanced to balanced and make them insensitive to electrical interference, they are especially used for long lines, such as transporting a musical instrument's signal to a mixer tens of meters away. The DB series includes a one-channel active D.I. Box model (DB1A), a one-channel passive D.I. Box (DB1P), and a two-channel active D.I. Box model (DB2A). The circuitry of each of the three models has been designed with meticulous attention to detail, using carefully selected electronic components, such as isolation transformers (in DB1A and DB1P models) and low-distortion integrated circuits. This ensures faithful, "clean" signal transmission from the instrument to the mixer, free from level, impedance, or noise issues. The front panels feature a wide selection of input connectors (XLR, JACK, and RCA, depending on the model), allowing the connection of a wide range of sources, including keyboards and samplers, guitars, basses and their amplifiers, computer sound cards, and music players of all kinds. The ACTIVE versions can be powered either by the mixer's PHANTOM power, by a 9V battery, or, in the case of setups with a large number of DI BOXes, by an external power supply that can be daisy-chained to multiple units, thanks to the dual power connector. The innovative design of the three models includes an aluminum casing with rubber corner protectors, to ensure maximum durability in the most extreme uses. By removing the corner protectors, two side guides become available for coupling two units and mounting them in standard 19” racks, thanks to metal flanges supplied as standard. This is a very valuable feature for those who need to use a large number of DI BOXes in the same application, avoiding positioning, bulk, and cabling problems.
