Korg Nutekt NTS-1 MKII is a powerful handheld, programmable synth and signal processor with an 18-key multitouch mini-keyboard (polyphonic) and an 8-step sequencer that also sends data to the MIDI OUT port. It features 1 VCO, 1 multimode filter, 1 EG, and 3 LFOs. It is powered via USB, including from a power bank. The instrument comes as a DIY kit and can be quickly assembled without soldering. It boasts "open" sound engine and processing thanks to custom content produced by logueSDK developers: Sound, OSC, and FX.

The compact and incredibly powerful NTS-1 in this MKII version comes with more features, a renewed user interface, and offers more customization options than its predecessor. A more powerful processor, a new keyboard – replacing the previous ribbon controller – an integrated step sequencer, new sounds, and expanded MIDI capabilities are the distinctive elements of NTS-1 mkII. All of this will ensure a new wave of custom content that third-party developers can program through the updated logueSDK environment. New Multi-Touch Keyboard

NTS-1 mkII features a new 18-key multi-touch keyboard, replacing the ribbon controller of the first generation, for precise playing and sequencing. This update unlocks the ability to send polyphonic MIDI messages, including chords, thus opening the doors to custom oscillators and effects by fully exploiting paraphonic potential.

Play, record, reproduce

In addition to a powerful arpeggiator, the new 8-step sequencer enhances musical possibilities. With live and step recording modes (with adjustable gate and velocity for each note) combined with the new keyboard and easy octave switching, the Korg Nutekt NTS-1 mkII ensures an intuitive user experience during performances. The new autosave function recalls all parameters used in your last performance, including sequencer data, so you can pick up exactly where you left off. But that's not all! The handheld synth NTS-1 mkII has a MIDI OUT to allow you to use its internal sequencer to play other instruments in your setup.

Enhanced Processor. New Sounds and Effects

NTS-1 mkII is an extremely powerful, flexible, and fun synth to explore. While retaining the versatility of its predecessor, this new version adds a host of new sounds, including new oscillator types and modulation possibilities; you can even use the input signal in the Audio IN as a modulation source to create FM, AM, or RING sounds. 

NTS-1 mkII is also an expandable FX unit, with many new Modulation effects (distortion, fuzz...), Delay (tape, BPM-synced) and Reverb, as well as useful oscillator OFF and filter THRU functions.

Expanded Connectivity in the NTS-1 MKII

In addition to SYNC IN/OUT and MIDI IN, Korg has added a new MIDI OUT port for expanded connection and performance possibilities with other external equipment. Furthermore, most NTS-1 mkII parameters have been made compatible with MIDI CC (Control Change messages) for easier control, even from DAWs or external sequencers. The USB-C power supply is an additional strength and will be extremely convenient in any situation, as you can connect it to the mains via standard chargers or power it from a power bank.

Korg Nutekt NTS-1 mkII retains the DIY kit format of the original and offers new customization options with reversible anodized silver and metallic black side panels. And don't worry, we've kept the same form factor and dimensions as its predecessor, which means custom sides, stands, and other custom parts will still fit!

A New and More Powerful Development Environment

Powered by a new chip, NTS-1 mkII has expanded processing power, making it possible to create complex effects and oscillators. A new logueSDK development API is available for developers on Github (click here for more information).

Customization and 3D Data

Thanks to its DIY nature and open design, NTS-1 mkII is a highly customizable synthesizer that you can modify in several ways. In addition to the open source logueSDK which allows users to build their own custom oscillators and effects, the NTS-1 mkII hardware can also be physically modified both aesthetically and functionally. To help you get started with physical customization, Korg will provide the necessary diagrams and instructions to customize your NTS-1 mkII in many different ways!
