The Green Spot is a tremolo based on a phase-shift LFO, capable of producing, in my opinion, a much more natural and pleasing modulation compared to other LFO architectures. Great care and time have been spent choosing the right transistors and capacitor values for the phase-shift cells to generate a slightly asymmetrical waveform. The controls are Volume, Depth, and Speed, a switch for Fast and Slow oscillation, and one for Hard and Soft waveforms. The Green Spot also features an internal DIP switch that allows selecting between low and high input impedance: the former produces a soft and mysterious tone, while the latter, in addition to a slight volume boost, generates a more crystalline and detailed tone. The standard setting, however, is low impedance. The Volume control is associated with a booster that provides a gain of about 17 dB, thus eliminating the common problem of tremolos that "eat" volume. This boost stage has been designed not to be completely transparent and neutral but to give the pedal a well-defined character. With the Depth control at zero, it is also possible to use the pedal as a simple booster. The soft waveform obviously needs higher Depth settings than the hard wave to achieve the same effect depth. The overall effect is so distinctive that, with particular settings, it can be compared to a vibe. With high depth, particular choppy sounds are obtained.
