Ngr Booster Yell-O Spot Effects Pedal

The Yell-o Spot is a clean booster based on a single BJT transistor stage. Very simple in its structure and controls. The Volume knob provides a boost of approximately 18dB. The switch inserts a low-pass filter into the signal path. The tone is robust but respectful of the instrument, characterized by a slight compression on the low frequencies – it reminds me of Dick Dale. Personally, I don't particularly like the type of tone that many of the buffers currently on the market produce: the absurdly high input impedance of these devices, while allowing the sound of the pickups to reach the amp unaltered, with all the potential pedals in between, generates a tone that is too "hifi" for guitar for my acoustic preferences. I am clearly accustomed to sound degradation! Therefore, the input buffer of the Yell-o Spot has a significantly lower input impedance than the norm (though sufficient to isolate the pickups from high losses) and the switch allows activating a sort of Dark Mode that further eliminates some of those "hifi" frequencies mentioned above. In normal mode, however, the sound coming out of the buffer is unaltered and goes directly to the amplification stage: as Anglophones would say, "crisp and clear." I find that the best placement for the Yell-o is at the end of the pedal chain, but everyone is obviously free to use it as they wish. The Yell-o Spot performs best when powered at 18V.
