The MR95LTD Mick Ronson Cry Baby Wah is a Dunlop signature wah pedal by Mick Ronson that captures the vibrant and melodic character of one of rock 'n' roll's most talented songwriters. With the collaboration of Bob Rock, Ronson's friend and collaborator, who lent Dunlop's team Ronson's personal wah, this pedal was created to reproduce that unique sound. The custom inductor replicates the high-frequency response of the original, and the rapid initial travel of the potentiometer has been reproduced.

OVERVIEW OF THE DUNLOP MR95LTD MICK RONSON CRY BABY WAH

The Mick Ronson Cry Baby Wah captures the vibrant and melodic character of one of rock's most talented composers. Few guitarists have managed to combine acute musical instinct with a deep compositional awareness as Mick Ronson did. Rich in expressiveness, his compositions layered carefully chosen tones and textures to create refined melodies and powerful riffs. The Cry Baby Wah, used in a fixed position as a filter, was fundamental to the sound Ronson used to transform the face of popular music through his work with David Bowie and many others, both as an artist and as a producer. The Dunlop team wanted to make that incredible sound available to all musicians. Legendary producer Bob Rock, Ronson's friend and collaborator, generously lent the Dunlop team Ronson's personal wah, a vintage Italian model whose vintage components give it a unique sound. Used as a filter in a fixed position, Ronson recorded numerous tracks with this pedal, and Rock continued to use it to record other artists. Reproducing similar specifications, tight tolerances, and a custom inductor, Dunlop engineers recreated that special sound.

"You set the wah, you leave it there, and there's the sound," says Rock. "It's on every record I've ever made, and I've used it on every record since I got it. The Dunlop engineers dedicated themselves to the project, sent me prototypes, and we nailed the sound."

To capture all the nuances and details responsible for Ronson's wah's unique sound, Dunlop engineers created a custom inductor that replicates the original pedal's high-frequency response and softer peak. The resulting sound offers a balanced, bright, and clear profile, with peaks that remain musically smooth. To allow every guitarist to relive the same experience, the inductor's tolerance was tightened to best represent the original. The rapid initial travel of the potentiometer was also reproduced, a characteristic that offers a unique instant responsiveness. Period-consistent low-gain transistors and precisely matched resistors were then included, contributing to a distinctive EQ curve. This pedal is made to emulate Ronson's distinctive wah sonorities. To complete the package, the Mick Ronson Wah is adorned with a special finish inspired by his work.
