Description

Already previewed and released in a limited edition in April 2019 at Moogfest in Asheville, Moog is now introducing the Spectravox to the market, adding it to the family of Moog semi-modular analog synthesizers (Matriarch, Grandmother, Mother-32, Subharmonicon, and DFAM).The newest addition to the Moog semi-modular family, it is an innovative instrument capable of reaching new creative levels for production and total creativity, offering an analog synth that can redefine new sounds and perfectly sculpt audio. A spectral analog processor based on a 10-band filter bank, Spectravox creates vibrant drones and colorful tonal sweeps, adding depth and psychedelic spectral movement to any external sound. By connecting a microphone, Spectravox becomes a 10-band analog vocoder with innovative integrated modulation of all its filters. Exploring and expanding the vocoder and filter bank topology, Spectravox is a highly flexible instrument and signal processor, with a wide range of patches for integration into any production studio. The history of the vocoder is unique and particular, just like the sound it produces. Its origins date back to the late 1930s, when Bell Labs experimented with a telecommunications encoding and encryption system for military purposes, which analyzed the fundamental elements of the human voice in detail, and then returned a new, electronically 'synthesized' voice. During World War II, the US armed forces used this system to encode audio messages that were then decoded upon reception. In subsequent decades, this technology was also experimented with for artistic musical applications, with a particular predilection for those 'robotic' vocal articulations that soon found ample space in film, television, and record productions. Some of the main artists who have used this powerful tool are undoubtedly Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Dr. Dre, Kraftwerk, Daft Punk, and many others.Key Features:● Analog Sound Engine● Sound Sources: VCO, White Noise Generator● Filter: 10x voltage-controlled variable resonance: 1 Low-Pass Filter, 8 Bandpass, 1 High-pass● Envelope: VCA EG (Decay)● Sources: Ext.
