The Korg Volca Bass is an Electribe-inspired analog bass sequencer, offered in a compact format. Drawing inspiration from the Korg Monotron and Monotribe range, the Volca Bass handles the low frequencies of the new Korg Volca series. Featuring three oscillators, an envelope generator, a newly designed filter, a VCA, and an LFO, the Volca Bass uses a simple architecture, with a myriad of options for creating a single sound. The Volca Bass can also be connected and controlled by a DAW via MIDI. The three analog oscillators can be used in unison to generate rich modulated sounds, or adjusted to make 3-voice chords, each independently sequencable to create complex and continuously evolving phrases. When used together, the three oscillators can be slightly discordant for full-bodied sounds. The Volca Bass uses a new filter circuit developed specifically for low frequencies that offer a crisp, brighter sound when fully open, wide and round when the cutoff is reduced. Korg has also included resonance control and the ability to drive the filter into distortion, perfect for acidic basslines. The sequencer section of the Korg Volca Bass is a direct descendant of the Electribe making it easier to add or remove notations on the fly. There are 16 easy-to-use keys that allow you to enter individual notes, while getting LED feedback from the position in the sequence. Notes can also be entered in real time using the touch panel keyboard, and up to eight sequence patterns can be stored in the internal memory.
