A MIDI + audio interface that lets you play apps on iPhone/iPad from any keyboard.

plugKEY is a portable audio and MIDI interface designed by Korg to satisfy all those who want to use their keyboard to play music applications in an iOS environment. Using plugKEY is extremely simple: connect a MIDI keyboard to your iPhone or iPad and start playing immediately. With plugKEY you can play your iOS device while it charges. Thanks to the stereo output, the interface allows you to connect to PA systems or mixers, in the studio or in live performances. By connecting your MIDI keyboard, you can enhance your daily music experience with apps, covering all the octaves you need, overcoming the limitations of the touch screen. plugKEY is the key to accessing a new way of playing, made available to you by Korg, a leading company that continues to produce and develop musical instruments of all kinds, from apps to hardware synthesizers, from electric pianos to workstations.

Certified "Made for iPod/iPhone/iPad" With plugKEY you can professionally play a rich selection of music applications for iPhone and iPad, such as KORG Module and Apple GarageBand, from your favorite MIDI keyboard. Simply connect the plugKEY's Lightning connector to your iPhone/iPad and a MIDI cable from your keyboard's MIDI OUT to the plugKEY's MIDI IN. plugKEY has obtained official "Made for iPod/iPhone/iPad" certification from Apple, so no additional configuration is required: plug and play! Power is supplied via the Lightning connector and due to the wired connection, there will be no perceptible latency.

For example, if you use the plugKEY connected to an iPad with the KORG iM1 app or the iPolysix app installed, you will have a real sound module. You can use it to enhance a synthesizer on an iPad, or take it with you to play music applications installed on your iOS device with any keyboard you find in the rehearsal room, recording studio, or on stage.

Use your iPhone to practice piano. Do you have an old digital piano at home that you haven't used in a long time? Connect it to the plugKEY, which in turn is connected to the iPhone on which you have installed KORG Module: your old digital piano will be reborn with the high-quality sounds available in the app.

1/4" jack audio outputs with studio quality In addition to the MIDI input, the plugKEY works as a quality audio interface for your iPhone and iPad, thanks to the L and R (stereo) outputs on ¼” jack connectors that allow you to connect to a recording studio, or to a stage mixer to transform your iPhone/iPad into a real musical instrument. A potentiometer allows you to adjust the output volume, while a stereo mini-jack connector allows direct connection of headphones to the plugKEY.

* The integrated speaker in the iOS device is disabled when you connect the plugKEY.

Use it while charging your iOS device A DC5V connection on a microUSB port allows the plugKEY to be connected to power via an adapter (not included). This is used to charge your iPhone or iPad even while you are playing, a very important feature for live performances, in the rehearsal room or in the studio where you will no longer have to worry about battery life.

Compact design for use anywhere

Thanks to the meticulous selection of essential features such as MIDI input, stereo audio output, and charging connection, the plugKEY is compact, similar in size to an iPhone. When you connect it to your iPhone/iPad and MIDI keyboard, the plugKEY will not bother you as it will be easy to position, just as it will be easy to carry around due to its compactness. Since you are an artist and care about image, Korg has also thought about aesthetics by creating two versions: white and black.

Free apps for playing and producing music

To help you start playing and producing music with plugKEY right away, Korg provides free iOS apps available for download from the App Store: "KORG Module Le", a sound module equipped with a selection of professional quality sounds, including an excellent piano module, and "KORG Gadget Le" a music production app that contains numerous virtual synthesizers and drum machines. By connecting the plugKEY, some limitations will be unlocked in both apps, the sound library will be expanded, and various functions otherwise inhibited will be activated.
