Description

Arturia KeyStep Pro is an advanced master keyboard and hardware sequencer designed to simultaneously control modular synthesizers, hardware MIDI instruments, and music software. It features a 37-note Slimkey keyboard with velocity and aftertouch, a powerful multitrack sequencing system, dedicated performance controls, and extensive MIDI, USB, and CV/Gate connectivity, making it a unique command center for studio and live performance.

Keyboard and expressive control

KeyStep Pro uses a 37-note Slimkey keyboard sensitive to velocity and equipped with aftertouch, designed for those who prefer to play melodic parts directly from a keyboard rather than pads. LEDs above each key provide immediate visual feedback on notes, scales, and operational statuses, facilitating orientation even in low-light conditions.

Multitrack sequencer and operational architecture

The heart of KeyStep Pro is a four-track polyphonic melodic hardware sequencing system, each with up to 64 steps and up to 16 notes per step. Each step can be programmed in detail with parameters for pitch, velocity, gate length, time shift, and probability, allowing for extremely precise and musical programming.
Alongside the melodic tracks, there is a dedicated drum sequencer with up to 24 parts, with independent sequence length management and polyrhythm support. This structure makes KeyStep Pro suitable for building entire songs without the need for a computer.

Scene mode, pattern chaining, and live performance

The Scene mode allows you to save and recall complete snapshots of all sequence states, enabling fluid transitions between song sections during live performances. Pattern chaining allows you to link multiple patterns into extended sequences, while global transpose and value offset functions allow for rapid variations across multiple tracks simultaneously.

Arpeggiator and advanced musical tools

KeyStep Pro integrates an advanced arpeggiator with various operational modes and an extension of up to 5 octaves. The generated sequences can be recorded directly into the sequencer, combining improvisation and programming in a single creative flow.
There are also Scale Mode, for quantizing notes to selected scales (including user scales), and Chord Mode, which allows you to play and record complex chords with a single key, simplifying real-time harmonic creation.

Extended connectivity and total integration

One of KeyStep Pro's strengths is its extremely broad connectivity. It features four CV/Gate/Mod outputs for polyphonic control of analog and modular synthesizers, eight dedicated Drum Gate outputs, MIDI In, two MIDI Out (with Thru function), USB for MIDI control and synchronization with DAWs, as well as Clock I/O, metronome output, and sustain input.
This architecture allows modern, vintage, and software instruments to be connected and synchronized within a single coherent system, making KeyStep Pro a true central control unit for your setup.

DAWless workflow and software use

KeyStep Pro is designed to work completely autonomously but also integrates perfectly into software-based contexts. In Controller mode, encoders can be used to send MIDI CC messages and automate virtual synthesizer and effect parameters, maintaining direct and tactile control even in DAW environments.
