The Starfire Bass II is a semi-hollow, two-pickup bass that adds significant tonal possibilities to one of Guild's most iconic models: the Starfire bass. The original Starfire Bass II debuted in 1967, shortly after the single-pickup version, and quickly found favor with musicians like Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane) and Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead). The addition of the Bisonic BS-1 neck pickup gives the instrument a warm, soft sound, offering great versatility. This double-cutaway bass features an arched laminated mahogany top and back, a three-piece mahogany neck with a central maple reinforcement and a "Soft U" profile, a 38mm nut, and a 781mm scale length. The fingerboard is rosewood with mother-of-pearl dot inlays. It is equipped with dual Guild BS-1 pickups, with individual volume and tone knobs, a master volume, and a selector switch. The adjustable Guild bridge has rosewood or ebony saddles, while the tuners are Grover 142 Vintage. A clear high-gloss Natural polyurethane finish enhances the beauty of this bass.
