The base model in the Polara line features a special combination of timeless design and modern features. Built with an essential, no-frills design approach, the Polara has an ultralight ergonomic body thanks to its profile and minimalist hardware package. In particular, a string-through-body design transmits string resonance directly through the mahogany body, offering massive sustain and response. A diagonal string arrangement corresponds to Guild's compensated stop bar design, first introduced in the early 1970s.

The Polara features a mahogany body with a set-neck design and a 24 ¾ scale length, familiar and inviting for all types of players. A rosewood fingerboard and a modern U-shaped neck with simple dot inlays offer a classic look.

The new uncovered HB-2+ pickups are modern extensions of Guild's much-desired HB-1 oversized humbucker pickups, built in traditional sizes with Alnico V magnets. These over-wound HB-2+ pickups deliver a variety of high-quality tones with plenty of character and personality. Black pole pieces further enhance the style, while simplified master volume and tone controls add to the Polara's essential, no-nonsense design.
