Description

The PRE-73 MKIII is a high-quality, single-channel, advantageous preamp, built exclusively with discrete components and equipped with two independent transformers for input and output.

Equipped with a circuit very similar to the preamplifier section of the celebrated Neve 1073 pre/eq, the PRE-73 MKIII is capable of reproducing the warm vintage sounds, much sought after today, that make recordings of vocals and instruments extremely pleasant to listen to.

The PRE-73 MKIII is perfect for any sound source, whether it's a microphone, synthesizer, electric guitar or bass. This preamp offers 80 dB of gain on the microphone input and 30 dB on the line input and high-impedance instrument input.

The microphone input impedance is adjustable to 300 or 1200 Ohms, making the PRE-73 MKIII perfectly pairable with most microphones. There are also two buttons for phase inversion and phantom power, and an LED level indicator. The output level control allows for precise gain adjustment, with the possibility of loading the main amplification stage to add more character to the sound without causing signal distortion.

Compared to the previous version, the PRE-73 MKIII includes two selectable high-pass filters (40 Hz and 170 Hz), an AIR mode switch that adds a 3 or 6 dB boost at 3 KHz, and provisions for mounting a Carnhill transformer.
